The Aftermath

The Aftermath

This is a shot of the bed that Nak and I shared last night. We went to a few bars. I danced for a while. That was a lot of fun. It was nice to dance at a bar because you don’t have to dance for like 4 hours straight. Nak’s friends are all really cool. I am looking forward to just sleeping in my own bed. I really like being able to post to my blog from my cellphone. We’re on route 81 right now. We should be home by 8 or so.

We’re There

We're There

Well, we’re up in Binghamton. It took us about 4 hours to get up here. Nak quickly started winning in beer pong and got good and retarded in the process. I think there is some kind of outing planned for tomorrow. It’s pretty weird to be back in this college atmosphere after being away from it since May. It’s amazing how similar this is to Stony Brook. For some reason I thought it would have changed. We’re having a great time and we have only been here for 2 and a half hours. Hopefully I’ll update again tomorrow.

Trip to Binghamton

I’m going up to Binghamton with Shaunak this weekend. We’re going to be staying at his old frat house. I think they might actually be throwing him a birthday party, but I’m not sure. A good time will be had by all. I’ll update here with pictures once I get back on Sunday.

Mike and I are going to the Streetlight Manifesto show at The Downtown on February 13th. Streetlight Manifesto is made up of 3 guys that used to be in Catch 22. They even re-recorded Catch 22′s Keasbey Nights album and called it Keasbey Nights 2. That should be a lot of fun. It’ll be nice to go to a show after having taken this hiatus.

I now have a friend listed on Flickr. I stumbled across Melissa Mee’s pictures and I added her as a contact. She added me back a day later. I have a friend. Yay!

Stuck in Traffic

Stuck in Traffic

Brandon and I are stuck in traffic on I-91 in Connecticut. We left Vermont at around 11:30. We wanted to be home by 7:00, but that might not happen. We had a great time. Neither one of us smashed our faces in on any trees, so that’s good. The lodge that we stayed in was pretty cool. We’ll definitely stay there again. Right now I just want to get home and take an hour long shower and then sleep for like 12 hours.

Jay Peak

Jay Peak

This is a shot from the summit of Jay Peak. It’s something like -38 with the wind chill. Crazy.

You Can Get Only What it is You Want

“I can’t tell what kind of life I’ve led today. All that’s known is what’s debatable again.” — Mates of State – Ha Ha

I’ve bought way too many CDs recently. They’ve all been pretty good except for the new Saves the Day CD. I was a curious cat and I got killed. Some of the CD purchases were to recover CDs that I used to listen to a lot with Jamie that got lost in the shuffle. I’ve found myself with a lot of time on my hands since we broke up and there are worse things that I could be spending my time and money on than music.

Brandon and I are going snowboarding today. We’re going to Jay Peak. It’s only four miles off of the canadian border. It should be a fun drive and a fun weekend. We’re staying at this place called ‘Grampa Grunts Lodge’. It costs $27.50 per night per person. You can’t freaking beat that.

Work is going pretty well. I’m pretty psyched about the project that I’m going to be working on for the next month or two. It’s a really big piece of the puzzle and I basically get to write it all myself. It’s very important that it come out correct and well designed. It’s basically what we base the business on, so I can’t fuck it up. :o)

Alright. I’m off to the mountain. It should only take us like 8 hours, although it took us 14 hours last time because we drove through a blizzard. Lets hope there aren’t any avalanches or tsunamis or anything like that.

Put Up or Shut Up

Yeah, so I can no longer disillusion myself. Either I’m gonna start contributing code to Gnome or I’m gonna start poking my eyes out. I’ve been living on the fringe here for a little too long. Plus, if I want to go to Guadec, which I do, then I want to actually have contributed something useful. It is always very hard to figure out where to start. I’m deciding to start by implementing proxy support in the gnome panel applets that need web access. That way I’ll be able to get my weather information and other nice things when I’m behind the proxy at work. So, I’ve set up a web proxy (squid) on the server I have here at home and I’m going through it right now. I just compiled gnome-applets from CVS and I’m going to try and add support for this and supply a patch. We’ll see how far I get. It would be pretty nice to get this working because I hate not knowing the weather at work. I guess we do have windows, but who has the time for that? Alright – here I go.
Update: Alright, I’m an idiot. It turns out that they have support for going over a proxy already because they use gnome-vfs. I’m still not sure why they don’t work at work. I’ll have to investigate a bit. Well, at least I tried. I did sift through a bunch of the code and found where it was doing all of its stuff. Another day goes by and nothing to show for it. Time to watch some Family Guy.

PS – I’m one of those people that just don’t get Sifl & Olly.
PPS – That’s right John, I just wanted to do the trackback thing that bad.
